Civil Engineering Office, City of Bern

Heatmap via ML Model

The Civil Engineering Office of Bern commissioned ti&m to develop a machine learning model to automatically detect litter in images. The goal was to visualize the degree of pollution using a heatmap. The model detects waste such as bottles, PET containers, and cans in street environments. The PoC was developed with agile methodologies to demonstrate feasibility, limitations, and potential for optimizing the model.

SUISA Mint Digital Services

Usage forecasting and anomaly detection

ti&m supported SUISA in analyzing huge amounts of streaming data from platforms like Spotify and Apple Music before the development of LLMs. The machine learning system built by ti&m detected anomalies in the data and forecast future user behavior. The objective was to efficiently and accurately determine artists' financial entitlements.

Background Screening with AI

Before the advent of LLMs, ti&m developed the Fit & Proper project on behalf of the FMA to screen prominent individuals. The digital test automatically checks for critical reports using bots and AI. Bots perform Google searches, download relevant pages, and analyze whether controversial content exists and if it can be attributed to the person in question.

Improving baking results through image recognition

An international kitchen appliance manufacturer equipped high-end ovens with cameras to recognize the food and optimize the baking process via machine learning. ti&m developed the models on the Terraform ML platform, utilizing tools such as image labeling, data pipelines, experiment tracking, and monitoring. Once trained, the models are installed on the appliances and operate completely offline.

Public Sector

AI Assistant for HR Inquiries

A Swiss canton department pioneered the use of AI in the HR sector with the goal of reducing processing time and improving process quality. The application allows employees to submit inquiries, which are then autonomously processed by the system and reviewed by HR staff. The solution integrated GPT-4 language models, supplemented by data from public websites and internal documents.

Raiffeisen

Report Generation Using LLM

ti&m implemented the MVP “ReportGenie” for Raiffeisen, a system for the automatic creation of public reports based on LLMs. Previously, the accounting and controlling teams had to create these reports manually, which involved considerable time and effort. The system analyzes financial figures from balance sheets, income statements, and external data, generating precise texts that meet the bank’s high linguistic and technical standards. A human-in-the-loop approach ensures content is reviewed and adjusted as needed.

Raiffeisen

Transcription from Teams Meetings

ti&m developed a proof of concept for Raiffeisen that enables employees to follow up on meetings with AI support. ti&m built a Teams Meeting extension that is automatically added to all meetings in the Raiffeisen tenant. A custom web app uses the Microsoft Graph API to capture meeting transcripts and make them available for further processing. After meetings, Raiffeisen employees can open the extension and ask the AI model specific questions about the conversation.

AI Foundation Platform

ti&m developed the AI Visorium for Raiffeisen—the Raiffeisen Group's central GenAI platform for providing and managing a wide variety of GenAI applications. “DIREx Copilot” was launched as a pilot project, seamlessly integrated with the internal DIREx system. It enables employees to find information quickly, precisely, and reliably. The implementation took the cooperative structure of Raiffeisen into consideration, ensuring that employees have access only to documents that are relevant or specifically tailored to their individual bank.
